Join the Circle of Peace on September 21

Posted in: Events, Events by WOVEN, News

WOVEN (We Oppose Violence Everywhere Now) is a nonprofit organization coordinating advocacy work to end violence. At WOVEN, we believe in our collective capacity to reject violence in our communities and across the globe. Built on this belief, WOVEN is a platform for peace and anti-violence workers, artists, activists, and citizens of the resistance to collaborate and unite around solutions for peace.

This September 21, on International Peace Day, WOVEN, its allies, and citizens of New York City will gather and join hands forming a Circle of Peace around a Church, a Synagogue and a Mosque to symbolize solidarity, unity, and resistance. Please join us.

On August 12, we witnessed a horrendous display of hatred, bigotry, and violence. Recently, hate groups across America have become emboldened to threaten marginalized communities and divide the American people. The Circle of Peace is an inclusive event where we join hands against all forms of violence, discrimination and hatred. The message we will send is clear: Violence is our enemy, not each other.

Let’s stand together after Charlottesville in unity, solidarity, and strength.

When: Thursday, September 21, 6:00 – 7:00 pm
Where: Samuel Seabury Playground at 96th & Lexington, NYC
Who: WOVEN along with Speakers and co-hosts (TBD)
