CT Higher Education UndocuAllies Network Breakfast
Connecticut Students for a Dream and Fairfield University welcome higher education professionals in Connecticut actively working on supporting undocumented students to attend our higher ed network breakfast. The event will focus on discussing best practices from different higher education institutions across the state and how we can work together to implement positive changes at our institutions to support undocumented students.
We know that many CT colleges and universities have been implementing some great practices to support undocumented students, especially after the election so we want to give time for folks to share and learn from each other, as well as discuss what is going on in other parts of the country. Some possible best practices topics include:
- Admissions and financial aid policies for undocumented students
- University policies on dealing with possible immigration enforcement actions on campus
- Creating a welcoming campus environment
- Training for faculty & staff
- University supports available for students
You can give us feedback on specific topics that you would like to see included at this event by taking our short survey here: https://goo.gl/forms/AeMGwXuAkHacmc7y1.
It is our hope that attendees will walk away connected to a network of allies across the state that is working to support undocumented students as well as new, concrete practices and policies to implement at your institution.
This event will also serve as a soft launch of our Higher Education UndocuAllies Network, a networked task force of educators that is committed to supporting and advocating with undocumented students at the institutional, regional, state, and national levels. We look forward to seeing you there!
