Global Forum on Youth, Peace and Security
The Forum is envisaged as a turning point towards a new international agenda on youth, peace and security. Stemming from the thematic debate organized by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan during its presidency of the Security Council in April 2015, it will build on on-going efforts by a multiplicity of actors to decisively step-up global attention to young people’s contribution to peace and chart a common agenda.
For the first gathering of this kind, young people, youth-led organizations, non-governmental organizations, governments and UN entities will come together to agree on a common vision and roadmap to partner with young people in preventing conflict, countering violent extremism and building lasting peace.
We believe our generation is equipped to end violence once and for all. They call us victims, or troublemakers – but we are positive changemakers, with the enthusiasm and creativity to usher in a new era of peace. What we need is a platform, to make our voice heard – and we need YOU to help us build it.
#Youth4Peace is an online conversation to declare a new international agenda, and put youth at the center of peacebuilding all across the world. All leading up to the Global Forum on Youth, Peace and Security that is taking place in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on August 21 & 22! Young people, youth-led organizations, NGOs, governments & the UN will come together to create a declaration, a common vision and roadmap to partner with young people in preventing conflict, countering violent extremism & building lasting peace.
