P.O.P.C. Presents a Benefit for Climate Refugees

Join Power of People Combined for a night of music where we’ll be raising funds for Climate Refugees, a research and advocacy organization that looks at climate change as a driver of forcible displacement.

Climate Refugees has just released a field report from the Lake Chad Basin in Africa, where they examined the role climate change and the shrinking Lake Chad plays in the ongoing conflict with Boko Haram and subsequent crisis, which has now displaced 2.4 million people across Cameroon, Chad, Niger and Nigeria. Interviewing over 100 refugees and IDPs offered fascinating insights into the effects and roles poverty and climate change play in both contributing to and exacerbating this conflict and highlighted the potential risk climate displacement poses to millions of people in the region and around the world.
