RISE is a grassroots nonprofit that was founded in 2014, its mission is putting an end to acid violence globally. The coalition was launched by Angie Vredeveld, a clinical psychologist who believed that meaningful change could be made through connecting and empowering individuals that are passionate about resolving the problem. Comprised mostly of volunteers, the RISE coalition works internationally with acid attack survivors and activists to find strategies that not only provide support for victims, but advance the fight to eliminate acid violence all together. Based in Cincinnati OH, RISE offers education and advocacy for the cause along with legal and health services for victims. They also market and sell artisan crafts made by survivors, the proceeds of the sales go directly to the artist and rehabilitation centers across the globe.
