Telling the Full Stories Behind Historical Achievements

Posted in: News, Peace Through Art, Peacebuilding, Reviews

It’s important to tell the stories of those involved with humanity’s greatest accomplishments, but certain voices often go unheard and forgotten, while others rise to the forefront. Nominated for three Oscars this year, Hidden Figures is a must-see film that captures the previously untold stories of Katherine G. Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson, three African-American women who played an integral role in launching astronaut John Glenn into space – becoming the first American to orbit the Earth.

WOVEN celebrates Hidden Figures and hopes that the voices of those excluded from historical narratives continue to shine through media in 2017 and beyond. With all of our voices heard, the world may continue on a path towards equality and peace.
